52 Houses Not Enough for Conisbrough

MR R F Edwardson,  Conisbrough Urban Council Clerk has reported that the ministry of housing and local government propose to allocate 52 houses for the 1955 programme having regards to the site at present available; they will be prepared to review the position when development of the site abutting on the Old Road Conisbrough is commenced.

Coun. R Scurfield said at Monday’s monthly meeting that the council hoped to get more that 52 houses as they felt this was a small number. “if this is all we are going to get our housing programme is going to be jeopardised.”

He said the clerk pointed out that this subject to review in June. County Alderman B. Roberts J.P. said it was a small number having regard to slum clearance.
