A Young Thief at Conisbro’

A youth, whose name was said to be Joseph Kelley, of Sheffield, was on Saturday, ordered by the Doncaster West, Riding magistrates to receive six strokes from the birch for having stolen a pair of boots and a pair of stockings, of the value of 4s 6d, belonging to Mary Ellen Harrop, wife of Alfred Harrop, of Conisbrough.

It appeared that the youth called at the house and asked for lodgings. He was given his tea before going to bed, and next morning it was found to have disappeared with the article’s name.

The police officers captured him.
