Alleged Assault at Conisborough.

Catherine Bullingham, married woman, was charged with assaulting Emily Elliott at Conisborough, on October 5, 1896.

The complainant stated that she was in her kitchen when the defendant, who was a neighbour, rushed in and began using bad language. She caught hold of witness and knocked her head against the wringing machine, and dragged her by the hair of her head into the yard. Witness managed to get away at last, and run in to her own house where she locked the door and sentĀ for a policeman. When the defendant had hold of her she dragged a piece out of her neck.

Sarah Savage and Betsy Halifax, corroborated.

The defendant said the complainant started it by throwing water over her and calling her bad knees. She wished her husband to be called.

The Clerk: Your husband cannot give evidence.

PC Evans who was called at the request of the defendant said he did not see the disturbance commence but when he got there the complainant was using very bad language as was the defendant.

The case was dismissed
