Amalgamation Issues.
Conisbrough And Mexborough Find Common Ground.

Conisbrough and Mexborough Urban councils agreed on Tuesday to the amalgamation of the two urban areas. A scheme is to be prepared for a future conference and the proposal has been left for Swinton to join in if they wish.

Four representatives from each authority, with four from Doncaster global Council who are affected in so far as old Denaby and Adwick are concerned, met at Conisbrough Council offices on Tuesday and after discussion agreed on the following points: –

That the clerk to Conisbrough and Mexborough Urban councils in collaboration with other officials, prepare details of an agreed scheme of amalgamation between the two councils for submission to a future conference; and that intimation of that decision be given to Swinton U. D. C. and that preparation of the scheme be deferred for one month to allow for participation by Swinton if they so desire.

Representatives of Doncaster R. D. C. Indicated that following the findings of the Boundary Commission and the proposals of Doncaster County Borough, and after further discussing the matter. They would review the question of their participation in the scheme as affecting Old Denaby and Adwick on Dearne.
