An Unruly Conisborough Miner

Bradley Whittlestone, miner, of Conisbro’’, was summoned for having been disorderly and refusing to quit the Star Inn, Conisbro’’, on the 20th inst., of which John Williams was the landlord and was further charged with damaging a spirit keg at the same time

Mr R A H Toby, solicitor, Doncaster, prosecuting on behalf of the Licence Victuallers Association, and said that on the date in question defendant went into the Star Inn at Conisbro’’, and the landlord John Williams, overheard him using some offensive language, not exactly bad language.

The defendant was told to leave the house and he went out, but came back again, and threw a pint pot into the bar, damaging a keg.

The landlord sent for a policeman, but the man went out in the meantime.

There were no previous convictions against the defendant, who was now fined 20 shillings, including costs in the first case, and in the second 14/6, including the damage.
