Armistice Day Services

Despite the rain there were huge congregations at all the Armistice Day services at Denaby and Conisborough. In the morning, the usual parade left Denaby Ambulance Headquarters headed by the St John Ambulance Brigade Band, under Corps Superintendent W. Still, and included members of the Denaby Branch of the British Legion, Denaby Main Corps, S.J.A.B., with Nursing Sisters, Toc H, Girl Guides and other Societies, and the procession attended service in Denaby All Saints’ Church.

After the service wreaths were laid on the Memorial on behalf of the S.J.A.S., the Nursing Sisters, the Legion, and the Girl Guides.

In the afternoon the usual Conisborough parade was along a shortened route owing to rain, and the service at the Parish Church commenced half an hour before time, but even then the church was filled.

The Denaby Salvation Army Band headed the parade of Legion members the Conisborough division the St. John Ambulance Brigade, Nursing Sisters and other societies. The parade then moved Coronation Park for the laying of wreaths on the memorial.
