Denaby Miner Assaults His Disturber.

Peter Kelley, a miner, who lives at 17, Cliff Street, Denaby, was found asleep late on Wednesday night on the station platform at Rotherham.

He was awakened by a porter, but defendant showed his thanks by striking the company’ official in the chest. If it had not been for his colliding with a pillar the porter would have fallen under a train.

Kelley also struck a passenger named Mrs. Cobb, who was waiting to go to Kilnhurst in the train. Charged with breaking the Great Central Company’s bye-laws the Rotherham Police Court yesterday morning. Kelley, who did not appear, was fined 40s. and costs
