Attempted Shopbreaking At Denaby.

For attempting to break into the shop of Herbert Law, of Denaby, on the previous night, John Greenall, miner, and Frank A. Croxford, colliery surfacemen, of Denaby, were, at Doncaster West Riding Police Court on Tuesday, each sent to prison for one month with hard labour.

P.C. Rose stated that as he was passing Mr. Law’s premises he heard suspicious sounds, and upon going to the rear of the premises he found prisoners endeavouring to break in.

They had forced a chisel between the jamb and the door. The constable was complimented upon his alertness by the chairman (Mr. W. Hinchliff).
