Primitive Methodist Sabbath School Excursion
On Thursday, August 23, the children and teachers of the love school, accompanied by a few friends, went for a days excursion to Roche Abbey. Mr Thomas booth, of the Conisbrough Mills, and Mr Thomas Shutt, of the Red Lion Hotel, kindly conveyed the party in two wagons, and a very enjoyable day was spent.
The entire route was enlivened by the singing of the Sabbath School airs, and other lively hymns.
The children were regaled with tea and buns, and did ample justice to the good things provided.
The party left the Abbey about seven o’clock, and arrived home about nine, much delighted with their days out.
Conisboro Church of England Temperance Society.
The members of the above society paid a visit to Wentworth house, the seat of Earl Fitzwilliam, on Thursday last. They were conveyed thither in five waggons, kindly lent for the occasion by T.H.Simpson, Esq, Godfrey Walker, Esq and Mr George Appleyard. The weather was very fine, and every one enjoyed the outing exceedingly. Tea was provided by Mr Oliver, of Doncaster. The party arrived home about nine o’clock.
