Pte. Arthur Barnes, 26-years-old son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Barnes, of 68, Highfield Road, Conisborough, joined the Coldstream Guards last October – and just the right size he is for the Guards – six feet one inch.
Pte. Barnes, who before enlisting worked for 12 years at the Ashfield Brickworks, Conisborough, was a member of the works cricket eleven in the Y.A.P. and Y.B.C. League and filled the position of a bowler.
Barnes, who was home on five days leave at Christmas, is single.
