A Closer Look at Conisbrough.

Because of alterations to 2 bridges on the main Sheffield to Doncaster railway line rail passengers were given the opportunity of a closer look at Conisbrough on Sunday.

Work is in progress to strengthening Kilner’s bridge, Denaby, and other operations at a piece close to the Conisbrough – Warmsworth boundary, meant the curtailment of rail traffic and passengers were ferried by bus between Conisbrough and Doncaster.

“The things went very smoothly indeed,” said Conisbrough stationmaster, Mr I.H. Chantry, on Tuesday, “We had no grumbles at all from passengers.”

Goods traffic was also altered and diverted as a result of the work.

The shuttle service will be in operation again this Sunday, Mr Chantry explained. “The operations have been specially time so as not to coincide with heavy summer traffic, and further stoppages will not be required until later on this year.”
