Colliery Accident. – Cage Conductor Broke

Colliery Accident.

Considerable commotion was caused on Wednesday, at the Denaby Main Colliery, owing to one of the cage conductors suddenly breaking.

Fortunately no one was injured, although much inconvenience down, and no small amount of damage resulted.

All operations were immediately ceased, and those men who were in the pit were brought to the surface. But in bringing the men up the shaft the cage had to stop near the spot where the accident happened. The miners were forced to step into a refuge until another cage was sent down to them.

All were brought to bank safely.

Work was resumed yesterday morning, the damage having been repaired during Wednesday afternoon
