Conisbrough Gas Company
A Difficult Year.

The annual meeting of the Conisbrough Gas Company was held at Conisbrough on Tuesday.

The following directors were present: Mr R Crawshaw, Mr P.B.Coward, Mr C.A.Ream, Mr George Nicholson, Mr W. Rawding, Mr H.A.Wilkinson, with the secretary, Mr A.E.Rands, and the auditor, Mr G.W.Roberts

Mr R.Crawshaw was unanimously elected chairman, in succession to the late Mr C. Kilner, to whose memory he paid a warm tribute, remarking that their undertakinghad suffered a serious loss by his death. He was for about 20 years chairman of the company, and perform the duties admirably.

They all cherish the memory of a straightforward, honourable character, and the high regard in which he was held in the neighbourhood.

Mr P.B.Coward was re-elected a director, and Mr G.W.Mitchell (Doncaster) was also appointed to the Board, in succession to Mr Kilner.

The directors reported that the Company had passed through a most difficult year, remarkable for the increased cost of materials and the constant rise in wages, and if the company had not obtained powers to increase the price of gas nothing could have prevented a more serious loss.

The accounts, which were adopted, showed a profit for the year of £476 2s 2d.

The auditor, Mr G.W.Roberts, mentioned that the dividend could not be paid until the Board of Trade notified him of the acceptance of the certificate of audit, sent some little time ago.
