Conisboro´ Sportsman Weds

Mr. R. Ogley and Miss S. I. Forster

Superstition was defied by Miss Sarah Isabella (Poppy) Forster, only daughter of Mrs. A. M. Forster “Marathon”, West Kilbride, Ayrshire, and of the late Dr. James Forster, of the Poplars, Conisborough, who chose Friday for her wedding at Conisborough Parish Church to Mr. Reginald Ogley, third son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ogley, of Hilltop House, Conisborough. Both bride and bridegroom are members of well-known local families and it is only just over two years since the bride and her mother left Conisborough.

The bride, who at one time was secretary of the Conisborough branch of the N.C.P.C.C., is a niece of Dr. W. J. Maclure, and her father was a much beloved practitioner in the district. The bridegroom is at present at University College Hospital, London, completing his medical studies, and when in Yorkshire gained considerable honours by his prowess at sport; at cricket he assisted Yorkshire Gentlemen, and at hockey he played for the county. His father represents Hooton Roberts on the Rotherham Rural Council, and at one time was the Conisborough representative on the West Riding County Council, and for many years he has been a member of the Doncaster West Riding Bench

The ceremony was performed by the Rev. F. H. Barnby, of St. Mawes, Cornwall, a former chaplain of St. Peter´s School, York, at which school the bridegroom was head boy, and Mr. Barnby was assisted by the Vicar of Conisboro´ Canon H. T. Eddershaw, who at one time was a master at the same school. Mr. Norman W. D. Yardley, the England and Yorkshire cricketer, and another former head boy at St. Peter´s was best man.

The bride who was given away by her brother, Mr. R. J. Forster, also a medical student, was attired in a pale blue two-piece, trimmed with silver fox fur, and she had a hat and veil to match. She wore a spray of pink orchids, and was attended by her cousin, Miss “Bunty” Cochrane, of Paisley, who was in a pale blue-green dress and hat to match and a silver fox fur: her spray was of pink roses. Messrs. Dudley and Stuart Ogley of Conisborough (brothers of the bridegroom), and C. R. Turton, Rotherham were groomsmen

The service was choral, Mr. W. Farmer (church organist), playing the “Lohengrin”, and Mendelssohn marches, and the hymns “Holy, Holy, Holy” and “O Perfect Love” being sung. After the ceremony a reception was held at Punch´s Hotel, Doncaster, and the honeymoon is being spent “somewhere in Yorkshire”, the bride travelling in a bottle-green costume, tan shoes and accessories

The bride´s mother attended the church in a mulberry coloured two-piece trimmed with ruched velvet, and she had a hat to match and wore a spray of petunia orchids. The bridegroom´s mother was in an ash-green two-piece with black hat and accessories and a spray of mauve orchids.
