Conisborough 2 Wombwell Temperance 1

Played at Conisborough on Saturday, before a fair number of spectators.

Owing to the late arrival of the visitors play was confined to ½ an hour each way. The home team won the toss, and elected to kick towards the village. The ball being set in motion was taken up to the home goal, but Richardson returned it to the centre of the field when Whittaker took possession of the leather, and passed it to Senior, the latter made a shot which just went over the crossbar.

Harrison and Purdy, at back, were now busy, and enable Kelly to make a splendid shot, which, however, went outside – hard lines.

The visitors forward then made a neat run, and from the right a goal was scored. Nothing further resulted up to half-time.

Shortly after recommencing Wood need matters equal, he being well assisted by W Kelly.

After some very fast play Conisborough scored again, and the game ultimately ended in a victory for the home team.
