Conisborough Baptist Church Harvest Festival

Special services were held on Sunday, and proved an unprecedented success. The Sunday services were well attended, especially in the afternoon and evening.

Mrs. W. Pickering sang two solos in the afternoon, “The Song of Children” and “Oh Rest in the Lord” and many were the congratulations she received from those present. The duet, “oh look with peace,” in which she was assisted by Miss Sharp as contralto, was also much appreciated.

Seldom, if ever, has the chapel been so packed as it was at the evening service, when augmented choir rendered the cantata, “A Harvest Song of Praise.” Mrs. Pickering, Miss Sharp, and Messrs, Badger and Wells sung the principal parts. The Reverent W. S. Maxey was the preacher. The music was exceptionally good, and Mr Frank Wells should be congratulated upon the result of his efforts as choirmaster and organist.

On Monday about 110 persons sat down to a splendid tea, the public meeting after was being well attended. Mr Bose of Doncaster occupied the chair, and Reverent A. G. Haste of Sheffield, the principal speaker, spoke upon the word “Praise,” the pastor adding a few words by way of thanks to all those who, by their contributes and enthusiastic services, had made possible the enterprising success of the gatherings.

The sum of nearly £12 was raised, and the friends will be satisfied to know that constitutes a record so far as the Harvest Festival services are concerned.
