Conisborough Isolation Hospital
If Worst Comes To Worst
A scheme of A. R. P. measures for the Conisborough Isolation Hospital is to be discussed in the near future it was reported at a meeting of the Doncaster and Mexborough joint hospital board at Conisborough on wednesday.
Mr. W Cranfield (Adwick le street), chairman presided.
The clerk (MR. R. Bowers) read correspondence from the Cuddington (Surrey) joint hospital board asking for support to a protest against the present position, whereby expenditure put in the present position by hospital boards on A.R.P. schemes to protect patients and staff does not rank for government grant as the hospitals are not to receive war time casualties.
It was decided to make representation to the Home Office on the matter, and Mr. G. S. Morley (Mexborough) said that arising out of the matter he felt he would be very guilty as a member of the board if, should war occur, they had made no provision at the hospital for A.R.P. Measures.
Mr. G. O. Randison (Old Denaby) declared that they must decide to do something while they where waiting to find out about grants. He would suggest that the member of the consulting authorities should submit a resolution on the mater to the Don Valley joint A.R.P. Committee, who in turn would take the matter up with the West Riding County Council, the coordinating authority, who will review top action being taken by the Home Office through the west riding county council.
Might I ask that this board give immediate consideration of patients who might be in hospital if the worst comes to worst Mr. Randerson urged.
On the motion of Mr. Morley this step was agreed, and a further suggestion by Mr. Randerson that Mr. J. A. Harrison the Don Valley area A.R.P. Officer be asked to meet a sub committee if the board on the subject, was also approved.
The report of the Medical Superintendant (Dr. W. J. Maclure) showed that 35 admissions had been received in the hospital During June. This compromised
Scarlet fever: Mexborough 4, Bently 2 and Conisborough, Denaby, Woodlands Hatfield, Edlington and Sprotborough one each
Diphtheria: Stainforth 4, Armhorpe 6, Carcroft 3 Highfield 2 and Mexborough, Arksey, Woodlands Dunscroft, Clayton and Hooton Pagnell one each:
Cerebro spinal meningitis: Denaby 1.
During a discussion on another matter Dr. Maclure mentioned that since the beginning of the month there has been an influx of 27 scarlet fever cases.
The board approved of recommendation of the house committee that Mesdames M. E. Ringrose M. Jackson and L. Nobel with the matron (Mrs. Symimgtion) Should visit wholesale firms regarding the purchase of certain articles.
