From a rough and ready life in the jungled Malaya to all the mod cons of a home from home in Berlin.

That is the story of 23-year-old Corporal Trevor “Dixie” Dean, a regular soldier whose home is at 1, Wembley Avenue, Conanby, Conisborough.

Ask any member of the Berlin signal Squadron to name out their standing sportsman of the year and they are sure to say Trevor Dean. Shortly after arriving in Berlin his talents were discovered and he was soon in the squadron’s basketball team, and in the combined services rugby team.

He is also a keen athlete and a leading member in the team which won the miners unit challenge cup this year.
