Conisborough Woman still Enjoys Nursing – At 91!

91

Although she is 91 years old, Mrs Sarah E. Radcliffe 68, Daylands Avenue, Conisbrough, does not intend giving up working just yet and still enjoys her work as a nurse for old people.

And the old people she works for are all younger than she is because she is the oldest woman in Conisborough and thinks nothing of her 91 years.

“I feel quite well and able to carry on for a while yet and I like my work,” she told a reporter.

Mrs Radcliffe, a widow who lives with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr and Mrs E Thompson, has been a nurse most of her life and to use her own words “has brought no end to children into the world.” She was a district nurse in this area and the Rotherham for many years and did much of the work on foot in the days when there was no transport available.

“ I have always loved my work as a nurse and I feel I am still quite able to carry on, she said. I am always willing to help anyone in need and she is certainly living up to the statement as she is present too busy to attend meetings of either the old age pensioner or the over 60s clubs. She is not at member of either: although I would like to be if I had the time to spare she said.

Mrs Radcliffe was chosen, because she is the oldest woman in Conisborough, to present a bouquet of chrysanthemums to Mrs JM Patrick of Doncaster and the opening of Conisborough and Denaby old peoples welfare committee’s first handicraft exhibition on Thursday. This
