Conisbrough Bus Service Extension

The Clerk to Conisbrough Urban Councii (Mr. R. F. Edwardson) has reported to the General Purposes Committee that that the Traffic Comissioners have refused the application for operation of additional  journeys on Saturday mornings to provide an hourly service between Conanby and Doncaster (to which Council have already given their support), and have granted an application for extension to the Conanby route another 365 yards along the Old Road to the Lockesley Avenue junction, which the council had opposed.

Regarding the first decision, the Council have received a subsequent letter from the General Manager of Doncaster Corporation Transport Department suggesting that as a first step towards re-consideration by submission of a new application at a later date, the Council should send a letter of protest to the Commissioners regarding their refusal.

The committee’s recommendation which was approved by the Council on Wednesday, stated that the decisions should be noted and that while the Council refrained from any letter of protest to the Commissioners, an assurance be given to the Doncaster Transport undertaking that as and when their authority make a new application it would be accorded the Council’s support.
