Conisbrough Cricket Club Find a Temporary Home

Conisbrough Cricket Club, who during the close season finally lost the ground at the Pygotts, Conisbrough, which they have occupied for nearly 8 years, are locked in a temporary home at Butterbusk, whether farmer, Mr W Brown, has granted the club use of the ground use before the war by Conisbrough Cliffs Sports Club, until they can find permanent accommodation. This welcome news was disclosed at a meeting of the club on Tuesday.

Conisbrough will now be saved the necessity of having, as they were obliged to do last season, to play all their matches on away grounds, and they have decided to renew their association with the Doncaster League Third Division next season (to cater for the youth of the district) as well as running in the Second Division of the league. In addition, they will compete in the Doncaster Town knockout competition, which they were last season’s winners.

In the meantime, a deputation, consists of Mr G Epworth (president), Mr J Hancock, Mr W Astbury and Mr W Thompson (secretary), is to meet Conisbrough Urban Council Early next month, to plead the club’s case for Council assistance in helping them to obtain a permanent home to cater for the future cricketing youth of the district.
