Accident.

Fred Parkes (59), 51, Park Road, Conisborough, was yesterday afternoon admitted to the Fullerton Hospital, Denaby, with severe head injuries. He is a painter employed by R. J. Clarkson and Sons, and was working on a 15-foot ladder painting some property in Low Road, Conisborough, when a gust of wind blew a passing cyclist into the ladder, which was dislodged and Parkes fell to the ground.

Clifton Feast.

Clifton Feast falls this week-end and the villagers are preparing for a ‘reight do.’ There is to be a children’s fancy dress parade, a ladies beauty competition, a baby show, a cricket match, all on the village green, a tea and a dance in the village hall, the whole festivities being ‘under the patronage of the Mayor and Mayoress of Doncaster,’ and the proceeds will provide an outing for the children of the village.

Sunday School Trip.

The annual trip of the Sunday Schools was held on Feast Monday when two trains full of happy youngsters and some parents, went to Cleethorpes where in glorious weather they had a jolly time on the sands. Those left at home were not forgotten and the children returned laden with presents. In this respect the ‘prize winner’ was a wee laddie who set off with 4s. 3d. to spend and brought back presents for five persons. The two new curates, the Rev. H. Atherton and the Rev. B. T. Croft, from the Parish Church accompanied the party. Of the large number of children 300 were taken under the ‘sponsor scheme.’ Another 150 ‘sponsored’ will go to Roche Abbey on August 12th.
