Conisbrough Trainee Teacher is Playing on Belgium Tour.

A 20 years old Conisbrough trainee teacher was this week on tour of Belgium with a London University football side. He is David Thomas, of 4 Barnsley Avenue, Conanby, Conisbrough, who was picked to play at inside right for the University representative side during the two match Continental visit.

The son of a retired Cadeby Main Colliery worker, Mr W.H.Thomas, David is in his second year at Shoreditch Teachers Training College, London, where he is studying P.E.. He is joined in the team by a fellow Shoreditch student playing at centre half.

David selection comes during one of his most successful seasons, and he has scored in every match. He has played so far for the Shoreditch college site.

He was also a regular last year when the team won the First Division Championship of the West Middlesex Football League.

A former Mexborough Grammar School student, David played for the school’s first 11, and earlier for Denaby Balby Street Junius School team. He has in addition, had trials for the Yorkshire schoolboys team.

Later in the season the London University team is to make a 14 day tour of Germany, and if David keeps his present formĀ  he must stand a good chance of retaining his place.
