Contravening Special Rule 99

George Lowe, miner, Mexboro’, was summoned for contravening special rUle 99 at the Cadeby Colliery on December 18th.

Mr. P. Allen, prosecuting, stated that on the date in question Fred Cook, who was working near the defendant, wanted to know what the time was. He went to a jacket which was hung up and took out a watch. When he took the watch out of the pocket three parts of a cigarette was discovered.

Witness spoke to defendant about it but Lowe said he did not think he had done any damage, and had taken cigarettes down before.

Fred Cook, a stone contractor, deposed to having found the cigarette in defendant’s pocket.

Lowe was fined 6/6 and 13/6 costs or ten days.
