The half yearly meeting was held at the Fox hotel on Saturday evening. At the conclusion of the business agenda and interesting ceremony took place, namely the representation of a case of cutlery to brother George Lewis, who has held the position of secretary to the Conisbrough Lodge for 21 years.

Brother George Gregory (trustee), who made the presentation, spoke in glowing terms of the valuable services of brother George Lewis, brother William Moore (treasurer) and the district secretary, brother J Cotton of Swinton, endorsed the remarks of brother Gregory.

Brother George Lewis expressed his gratitude for the beautiful present. He gave an interesting epitome of the history of the Conisbrough court since its inception on November 6, 1890. He was pleased to mention such familiar gentlemen associates as the late Mrs Godfrey Walker, Mr W.H.Chambers, reverent G.H.Stocks, and the late Mr H.C.White.

They had made a profit of 10 shillings per member each year since the court was established. The relative degree of solvency to date was 25 shillings and sixpence in the pound.

Mr James Blossom, valuer and accountant, at the annual audit made the following comment: “the members are to be congratulated on belonging to a court and with such a financial outlook as such careful management. At the present time there is a bank balance of over £1000.”

An interesting account of the social and musical evening since the inception of the Conisbrough court was heartily appreciated by the members present.
