Cruelty To A Pony At Cadeby Main.

Richard Bates of Denaby Main was charged with cruelly ill-treating a pony at Cadeby Main Colliery on the 11th inst.

Mr. Hickmott prosecuted and stated that on the date in question defendant was driving a pony with four full corves attached. Some dirt got in the wheels and stopped them and the defendant commenced hitting the Irony with a lump of wood to get it to move on instead of taking the dirt out of the wheels.

In consequence of the treatment the animal was unable to work for four shifts. The lad had expressed regret to the management.

A fine of 10s. and 15s. 6d. costs was imposed.
