Damage at Denaby

Mr Joshua Appleyard appeared to prosecute in the case in which Alfred Palfreyman was charged with damage to his field.

PC Thompson proved the case, saying the offence had been committed the previous Sunday morning at 10.45, defendant vaulting over the quick set fence which bounded the field and walking over 100 yards of land, recently sown.

When taxed with the matter for by the witness defendant said, “I didn’t think I done much wrong.”

Defendant was ordered to pay a fine of 1/-, the damages 8/- and 4/6 costs
