Damage to Grass at Conisbrough

Gordon Calclough, filler, John Finnegan, filler, and Arthur William Johnson, pony driver, all of Denaby, were summoned for doing wilful damage to grass at Conisbrough, the property of Mr C Kilner, J.P.

Mr W Baddeley prosecuted and explained that Mr Kilner kept this field for the purpose of his employees playing football in it. These proceedings were taken for the purpose of keeping out anybody who had no right there, as persons were in the habit of going there and playing in other parts of the field. The cases would not be pressed.

PC Lockwood said on October 21st he was on duty with PC Jenkinson, and saw the defendants playing in the field. They told them they would be reported.

Calclough was fined one shilling, 5/6 costs, and 3d damage. Johnson had to pay similar penalty, and Finnegan who appeared, had to pay the costs 5/6 and damage 3d.
