Death of a Denaby Football Supporter

One of the very best supporters of the Denaby Football Club, Asia Scott, died in the Fullerton hospital on Thursday.

He was taken ill on the football field a week last Monday and afterwards removed to the Fullerton hospital where he was found to be suffering from cancer, and died as stated.

The cause of death was an abscess growing on the liver.

He was employed at the Denaby colliery as an assistant deputy, leaves a widow and 10 children to mourn his loss. The coffin which was made of pitch pine, with brass mountings, bore the following inscription:

“Asia Scott, died April face 1906, aged 43 years,” and was born to the grave by Messrs Froggatt, Hopson, Thompson, Venables, Wingfield and Peters (committee and players of the Denaby Football Club),

The chief mourners were: Mrs Scott (widow), Mr John Scott (son) Mrs J Sapey (daughter) Misses Jane, Julia, Frances and Beatrice Scott (daughters) Masters Thomas, James, Horace and Asia Scott (sons)
