Death of Mr Swaby, of Denaby Main

We regret to record the death of Mr H Swaby at the early age of 22 years.

Deceased was working on the preceding Friday, and complained of feeling unwell, but he worked his usual hours, and would not be persuaded to leave work. Nothing serious was noticed until Monday, and he expired early on Tuesday morning.

The funeral took place on Sunday when the scholars of the Wesleyan Sunday School attended to pay last tribute to the memory of the deceased by singing hymns; ” For ever with the Lord,” and “Sweet rest in heaven.”

The local branch of Rotherham EO D also followed the body, which was interned at the Mexborough cemetery. The coffin was of English oak  with massive brown mountings, and was supplied by Mr J Millward of Mexborough. Mr W Vaux of Mexborough supplied the funeral coaches.
