Denaby 149   Mitchells 132 for 4

Irving Washington’s bit batting practice on East Coast has evidently done him good, for the left-hander played one of his most masterful innings at Denaby.

The homesters amassed 149, and left Mitchell’s a scanty amount of time in which to get the runs. Irving, however, got to work in  rare style, and actually claimed 50 out of the first 55 runs on the board. Still forcing pace, had got within six of century when tbe stumper put end to his career.

Lee gave useful assistance with 29 (not out), and Mitchell’s were only 17 behind, with six wickets in hand, when stumps were drawn.
