A splendid crowd assembled at Denaby to witness the usual hard struggle between the two great rivals, time arriving with honours even.

It was batters paradise, for with Mexborough running up 196 for 4, Denaby replied with 155 for 3.

Though Denaby entertain but faint hopes of a victory. Billy Smith and Percy Bury trounced the bowling two such extent  that they actually put a century in half-an-hour.  Smith, who was not out 78, gave a magnificent display. He batted consistently, never giving the resemblance of a chance. Bury was in merry mood, his driving being treat to witness.
