Denaby and Cadeby v G.N.R. Plant Works

Denaby and Cadeby first team played Doncaster, G.N.R.Plant Works on Saturday, and won easily by five wickets. Doncaster batted first and knocked up a score of 117; quite good, but hardly good enough against a team like, Denaby. F.Peck with 28 runs to his credit did the best among the Doncaster batsmen, but he was only cautious enough with the bowling of G.Wilson, who broke his wicket with the score at 28. Sutcliffe was neatly stumped by Narroway after adding 21. Robinson and Wilson bowled extremely well, the former taking 5 wickets for 34 runs, and the latter 3 for 39. Doncaster had three extras, which included the first bye of the season to pass Narroway.

W.E.Narroway and Luther Robinson opened for Denaby, and they partnered till Narroway was given out LBW. L.Robinson and scored nearly 41 Coulthread bowled him. “Billie” Widdowson hit out again, and broke up the Doncaster bowling. He scored 30, and seemed to have got well accustomed to the wicket. However, there was no need for a stand, and the 120 Mark was passed with five wickets to spa re.

The score of 110 which was secured by the visitors would in ordinary times, and being knocked off by Denaby, with very little effort; but the rot set in early in the match, and G.Wilson (18) was the biggest scorer on the Denaby side McLoughlin was very dangerous with the ball, and he took seven of the Denaby wickets for 30 runs. Narroway was given out LBW, when he had only seven runs to his credit.
