“Hundred for Three”
Greenwood Makes a Gallant Effort
But In Vain

Irving Greenwood made a fine effort to save Denaby and Cadeby from a heavier defeat, where they lost by 68 runs, his contribution of 80 was nearly half Denaby 131. Wainwright, Greenwood and Morton scored over 100 runs between them. Denaby’s batting strength was sadly weakened by the absence of Joe Wright. Laughton, the new player from Bawtry, continues to do his share with the bat and ball, and again reached double figures with a “not out” to his credit.

Rossington’s batting was not as brilliant as the total suggests. The only batsmen to have a go was Widdowson, a former Denaby player, who scored 46. Useful scores were made by Clarkson, Robinson, Griffiths and Harvey

for Denaby, Porter took three wickets for 22 runs, and for Rossington Clarkson had three for 19
