Lawley in Devastating Form

Superb bowling by Richard Lawley earned Denaby and Cadeby a great 104 run victory over Beighton at Denaby on Saturday – their first win since they won at Beighton on May 29th.

On his home ground Lawley really turned on the heat as Beighton strived to reach Denaby’s total of 144, and took 8 for 8 in a magnificent 14.3 over spell, which included 10 maiden overs.

In the Beighton collapse at the hands of Lawley, N. Pearson (1 for 14), and T. Hydes (1 for 14), only I. Spurr (19) reached double figures. Openers W. Oram and A. Allen contributed one run each to the visitors’ total, and C. Connelly, R. Burkin and R. Barlow all fell to Lawley for “ducks”.

There was just five minutes play left when the last Beighton wicket fell with the score at 40.

Coldwell (4 for 40) and P. Coxon (4 for 47) had done most damage for Beighton as Denaby opened the batting. For the home side Norman Oakley gained a fine 50 not out, with W. MacDonald (31), A. Ellis (18) and N. Pearson (10) the other main scorers in giving Denaby and Cadeby the double over Beighton – they won by four wickets at Beighton in May.
