RELEGATION FEARS OVER

Two outstanding performances by Dick Lawley and Norman Oakley were mainly responsible for Denaby’s resounding Yorkshire Council win over Rockingham. Denaby batted first and thanks to a fine innings of 65 not out by skipper Oakley, reached a total of 144 for 9 declared.

When Rockingham batted there came a capital bowling feat by Dick Lawley. In 19.2 overs, 11 of which were maidens, he took seven for 17, Rockingham being all out for 63. He was ably assisted by R. Cory (2 for 21) and M. Pearson (1 for 22).

This victory virtually assures Denaby of their place in the South Riding League “A” Division.
