Denaby’s Amazing Collapse
Denaby and Cadeby 37 Bentley 195
Denaby yesterday received their third defeat of the season, on their own ground, and by a side who had never before beaten them in the Yorkshire Cricket Council
Denaby allowed Bentley to occupy the wicket for a long time more than they need have done, for the dropping of some half a dozen catches cost them at least 100 runs. But the sensations occurred when Denaby themselves went to the wicket. G.H.Chambers proved unplayable, and in quick time he dismissed seven of the Denaby batsmen, and had only 18 runs hit off his deliveries, while at the other end J Bowers backed him up in the Denaby work by taking the three wickets for 19 runs, and Denaby were all out for what, writing without the records before us, we take to be Denaby’s lowest total in Council cricket.
