Denaby 154                                   Rotherham 46 for 2

GL Robinson 43

Denaby had another good home game spoilt on Saturday by the weather. They batted first against Rotherham and early lost the wickets of Greenwood and Tibbles, both bowled by Hawley.

Tibbles had promised rousing things, for during the 14 minutes he was at the wickets, he scored 13 runs. Worthington did not stay long, and three were down for 32. The arrival of Major Leslie stopped the successes of the visitors for a time, but the pace of the scoring was very slow for a period, five over’s producing only three runs. Worthington was missed in the slips, and was then caught, also off Hawley’s bowling, off the next ball. Narraway and Leslie in partnership made an improvement in the look of things, and Robinson followed up with a good contribution. Shoosmith failed, and Crossley and Poole were run out, but Foster batted well, and the total was finally raised to 154.

Rotherham started badly. Worthington bowled with effect, and sent back Dickinson and H. Turner very cheaply. Tyler and Brown made a stand, but then the rain put a stop to play.
