Denaby Girl´s Theft
Offence at Whiston
Millicent Grace (20), domestic servant, of Denaby was charged at the Rotherham West Riding Police Court on Monday with having stolen a white silk blouse and three ostrich feathers, valued at five guineas, the property of Amy McGillwary, sister of the Rev. G. A. Allton, rector of Whiston, between April 23 and Mar 4.
Prisoner had been employed at the Whiston Rectory as housemaid, and the articles had been missed from a drawer in a bedroom. She had, it was alleged, pawned the blouse at Denaby, and only one of the feathers had been recovered.
It was stated that on Jan. 5, at Blackpool, she had been bound over in the sum of £5. to be of good behaviour for twelve months, on a charge of stealing money and clothing.
The Bench took this into consideration, and on condition that she would go into a home that would be provided for her by the Court Probation Officer, she was bound over to be of good behaviour in the sum of £5 for two years
