Denaby Main Colliery – New Shaft

The new shaft in connection with the Denaby Main Colliery will shortly been sunk at Conisborough.

The sport where the engineering is to be carried on as on the hillside, opposite the Manchester, Sheffield, and Lincolnshire Railway, about a quarter of a mile from the existing shaft.

The land was yesterday staked out, and the sods were removed preparatory to the penetration of the soil.

The company have acquired the necessary land, and is not improbable that eventually lines will run from the Manchester, Sheffield, and Lincolnshire Railway to the Hull and Barnsley and Great Northern Railways.

Plans been drawn for 400 additional cottages at Denaby Main, in view of the new pit, and the proceedings are being watched with great interest.
