A Denaby Planning Problem
Problems over housing provisions on part of the site of the former I.C.I.factory Denaby could hold up industrial development, it was stated at Conisbrough Council Meeting on Wednesday.
The Area Planning Officer, it was reported, had refused to support housing development on eight acres of the site, designated as an industrial area on the tarmac. He had discovered that there would be drainage difficulties.
Cllr R.Shephard said development could get underway immediately with the help of the planning officer.
“We shall ask to ask for an enquiry and inspection of the site by the Ministry to see if anything can be done,” he said.
Cllr J Prendergast said it was the council’s duty to see that the Town Map was marked for industrial areas.
“I feel that this authority would help anyone who would like to use the land for housing or industry.” He said.
The Council agreed to ask the Development Company to submit outline planning application in respect of the land required for housing with details of factories intended for the use.
