Denaby United  0   Castleford Town  2 – Castleford Too Good

7 March 1921

Sheffield Daily Telegraph – Monday 07 March 1921

Denaby United  0   Castleford Town  2

Castleford proved too good for Denaby United and won by two goals. Denaby were by no means outplayed but most of the time they were well held. Their best defender was Lee, who kept a splendid goal, while Hamilton was their most effective forward.

Robins was the “star” of the Castleford team. The first goal was scored after about 35 minutes’ play by A. Tillotson. Walters scored the second five minutes from the end.

Scunthorpe Win Again

Scunthorpe United  3  Mexborough Town  0

Scunthorpe United were full value for their three clear goals win over Mexborough, and whilst there was little in the game itself to enthuse about, much good work was accomplished in midfield, and each of the three goals was exceptionally good.

The first was scored by Ackroyd with a terrific shot from 40 yards range. The other two were netted five minutes after the change of ends by Lemons from Butler’s centres. Hanna had a day off, so to speak. There were 4,000 present.
