Branches Reply to Denaby United.

Denaby United are disappointed with the replies they received from Denaby and Cadeby, N.U.M. branches following their appeal for a further three pence a week from each man to keep the club alive.

Following a joint meeting, both branches of told United’s committee that they will have to carry out a ballot at the pits to determine each man’s view on the proposed stoppage.

If such a ballot takes place, it will have to be organised by the club, and the club are not very enthusiastic about it.

United secretary, Mr Arthur Roberts, said this week that they had written back to the branches asking if a joint meeting of the workmen could be called to take a mass vote on the matter – as happened when the last stoppage of two pence was made.

“It is baffling,” said player manager Harry Hough. “It has not been a case at Denaby of players wanting nothing but money – we have proved that. We have had some good players were played some good football and what did nothing in return, but no one has turned up to encourage us to carry on.
