“General Slackness” at Bradford.

Bradford City Res 1  Denaby United 0

General slackness was the chief feature in both teams. Denaby in particular were, apparently, not desirous of everting themselves in the first half. After Bond had scored a clever goal, from good pass which Rutter gave him, Hartley whipped in a hot cross shot which brought Spendiff to his knees, and all but beat him. Alter some tedious midfield play, Birchall made haste for the Denaby goal, but Middlemass cleared handsomely. Both teams were better in defence than attack, and the game suffered in consequence.

In the second half there were moments when Westwood, Grierson, and Dodsley looked like carrying all before them, but the movements ended at the feet of Boocock, and Tufnell never got the opportunity he was hankering after

In artistic footwork the Denaby forwards were strikingly superior to Bradford City, with the exception of Tony Bond, but they always finished badly was an off day for the goalkeepers on both sides, and anything but exciting for the spectators.
