Denaby Defeated.

Chesterfield Reserves  3 Denaby United 1

For the first time since November 21st last the  Chesterfield reserves found themselves on the winning side on Saturday, Denaby United yielding the points on the Recreation Ground by 3 goals to 1.

The gate was miserable and altogether out of keeping with the class of football displayed: in fact , it was the most interesting Midland League game this season, the attendance was the poorest, and, there would not more than a of hundred people to see the encounter.

After the first quarter an hour the exchanges were always full of incident, but only the most partial supporter could contend that the home team were not the best side. Some of the combination was exceptionally clever, and the best forwards on the field were the extremes of Chesterfield. Tomlinson whose first appearance it was at Chesterfield since his return from Worksop, delighting everybody with his cleverly executed runs and passes, whilst Tattersall was smart as usual.

Both these players crowned their efforts by scoring goals, and each was a capital point, the third coming from Kingham who also did verv well. Beaumont who has was just been reinstated after a months suspension was a splendid half back.

Ball and banner, two ex Chesterfield players, appeared with Denaby, but the former was by far the more useful and it was he will cause most trouble to the home defence. Tayles could not be blamed for goal scored against him, for he kept out many a shot which might have defeated a custodian of less ability
