At Denaby before 300 people.

The home team made a good start, thanks to clever work by Glennon, who enabled Dodsley to centre for Dyal to score after five minutes’ play.

The speedy Huddersfield forwards made some promising attacks, but found the defence too good. Play continued fast and interesting, but up to the interval both defences were intact.

Re-starting. Randall netted for Huddersfield, but was ruled off-side. Denaby attacked, and Dyal headed against the cross-bar. Thompson, at the other end saved a rasping drive, and then gradually Denaby worked up strong and persistent pressure. Felstead distinguishing himself with a series of clever saves, with the Denaby players forcing corners and crowding close in.

Tufnell and Hartley missed chances for Denaby. but after 30 minutes Dodsley put on Denaby’s second.
