The Imps Make Merry At Denaby

Denaby United 2, Lincoln City Res. 6

The wind made all difference to the game at Denaby and Lincoln Lincoln made sure of the points in the first half.

Happs and Williams, full backs, put a stout resistance for the greater part of the first half, although the visitor’s forwards were constantly on the move, helped by big kicking of the halves, and goals came from Young and Kerr. In one short spell before the interval, however. Lincoln took complete command and put on three more quick goals through Nightingale, Kerr and Towler. That settled the issue, for Denaby never had the encouragement to throw themselves into the task when they in turn they had the wind behind them.

Dodds, a newcomer, who gave a most useful display at right half, reduced the arrears when he sent in a strong shot which was deflected into the net by a defender, and Stone added second from penalty. But they were the only occasions when Denaby really threatened any serious challenge, although play was maintained mostly in the Lincoln half.

In one of the visitors’ breakaways Kerr ran out to the wing, then cut again and scored fine solo goal to complete ln« hat-trick
