Denaby’s Second Win
South Kirkby unlucky
Denaby United 4 South Kirby 2

Two teams with only won one game between them were in opposition. At Tickhill Square, where Denaby United, were fortunate to beat South Kirkby.

During one period of the game South Kirby literally ran Denaby off their feet, and appeared as if they were going to register their first victory of the season.
Denaby had to thank Lionel Smith, home on leave, at centre half, Wilkinson and Haigh (full-back) for their untiring efforts. Smith as usual played a sound game, and but for these three players South Kirby would have won easily.

The rearrangement of South Kirkby’s team was successful, especially that of moving Jackson from centre half to centre forward.
After the teams are settle down Denaby took the lead through Ardron in the first minute, and soon after Fleetwood, from a centre from games, added a second goal.
There was no further scoring in the first half.

On resuming, South Kirkby showed a decided improvement and a series of attacks resulted in Jackson scoring two great goals, while a third shot hit the woodwork with the goalkeeper hopelessly beaten. At this stage South Kirkby were having the best of matters, and had Jackson scored from that third shot Denaby would have lost.

After being had pressured for 20 min. Denaby began to attack, and after Cory and Ardron had missed by shooting over the bar, Fleetwood sent the ball into the South Kirby goal and Ardron, following up, scored a good goal. This goal put more life into the game and both teams went all out, but Denaby again scored through Ardron.
