Denaby Success Revives Drooping Spirits.

Vollans’ Hat Trick.”

Denaby United  6  Notts County Reserves  3

One of the most meritorious feats in the Midland League on Saturday was Denaby United’s 6—3 home victory over the reserves of Notts County. Only Palmer, in goal, saved Notts from bigger defeat.

Denaby, who had only secured one point from their last seven League games, played Bowen, from Chesterfield, at centre-forward, Sheldon, Sheffield youth, at outside-right, and Vollans came in at inside-left in place of Hargreaves. All did well.

Watkins opened the scoring for the visitors, but so well did the home side reply that before the interval Vollans had completed a “hat-trick” and Gilchrist had also scored. Afterwards Sheldon and Gilchrist added further goals, and Maw and Fisher scored, for Notts.
