Midland League Games.

Barnsley Res. and Denaby United Victorious.

Barnsley Reserves had much the better their Midland League game with Loughborough Corinthians at Oakwell yesterday, but the forwards were weak at close quarters, and lost many scoring chances through hesitancy. Still they won three goals to none. Barnsley’s first goal came just prior the interval, Chivers netting after his first shot had been charged down. Early in the second half Harston added a second goal, and near the end Chivers obtained the best goal of the day. Olivers and Harston were active in Barnsley’s attack, Ridyard was prominent in the middle line, and Holmes shone in defence. Lampard made two good saves. Loughborough’s forwards were kept well in check, and for the greater part of the game the visitors _ were defending.

At Belle Vue yesterday, Doncaster fielded weak side and gave only a moderate exhibition against Denaby, who were the better side and deserved their 3—1 win. Their forwards were much smarter in front of goal than the opposition. The scorers were Gilchrist (two) and Fisher for Denaby, and Price (C.) for Doncaster. Skeels and Fisher were best forwards, and for Doncaster Hatton was the best forward. The half-backs were only moderate, but Shaw and Tate did well in the defence.
